The church and adjacent Dominican monastery are not only part of our architectural heritage but also the centre of cultural, spiritual and educational activities and a favourite place for great personalities of our culture.
The Church of St Giles with the adjacent Dominican monastery was the place where Miloš Forman shot the scenes for his famous ‘Amadeus’.
The ensemble Barocco sempre giovane has collaborated with important soloists and many excellent young interpreters, usually the winners of great international contests. They have become the favourite orchestra of more than one legend of Czech music, for instance, Václav Hudeček, Jiří Stivín and Gabriela Demeterová. Barocco sempre giovane (Always Young Baroque) is a chamber ensemble of top young professional musicians which specialises in high Baroque compositions; however, other periods or styles aren’t precluded. The ensemble’s heart is the energetic first violinist, Iva Kramperová. She has already performed at many important concerts, such as the Prague Spring International Music Festival, Brno International Music Festival, The Ohrid Summer Festival, The Young Stage and Prague Feasts of Music. The ensemble’s concerts have been broadcast live by Czech TV, TV Noe, and Czech Radio, and the ensemble records its own CD’s and holds its own seasonal cycles of concerts.
