Details of event
The legendary hip hop experimenters Anti-Pop Consortium will perform in the Czech Republic for the first time ever. Like their genre cousins the Dälek quartet from New York, total progressiveness is mixed into a futuristic cocktail with elements of slam poetry, Dadaism, free jazz and contemporary electronic music.
The debuted in 2000 with the album Tragic Epilogue, which showed the way for many followers, who developed a liking for mixing avant-garde music and rap. With the sonic derangement of their best-known album Arrhythmia they found a home with the British label Warp. In 2003 the Anti Pop Consortium released an album together with jazz pianist Matthew Shipp and then broke up for a while and embarked on various solo projects.
After a six-year break, in 2009 rappers Beans, High Priest, M. Sayyid and producer Earl Blaize made a triumphant comeback with the recording of the album Fluorescent Black, which was released under the Big Dada (Ninja Tune) label.
In the past, the radical foursome has invited Radiohead, Public Enemy and DJ Shadow, among others, to tour with them. Last year, the quartet performed at the London festival All Tomorrow’s Parties. Get your laser swords and anti-proton accelerators ready, Anti-Pop Consortium is coming to conquer the Archa Theatre on March 4!
