One of the most beautiful Prague Rococo palaces Colloredo-Mansfeld was built by Prince Paul Vincent Mansfeld-Fondi in 1730-1735 on the site of the older Gothic palace. Construction was performed by the architect Franz Ignatz Pree. The palace was famous in particular during the reign of Empress Maria Theresia von Habsburg as a significant social life center of Rococo and Classical Prague. The most significant area of the palace interior is a beautiful room designed with an elliptical plan pervading the two floors. It was completed in 1736 and is richly decorated with stucco and paintings. Its design is evident review of contemporary Viennese architecture. The Fresco on the vault room with Olympian gods, is the joint work of Italian painter Giovanni Battista and Pietro Scotti Zaista. The Colloredo-Mansfeld facade of the palace on Karlova Street is dominated by a monumental portal, adorned with decorative vases, putti and coat of arms from famous sculptural workshop named Braun. The same atelier also created a sandstone statue of Neptune fountain in the courtyard (1736). The Winter Palace of Colloredo-Mansfeld family is in service as the venue to many social events at the highest level. In the premises also feature a famous gallery with pictures of mainly Italian baroque masters. In the early 20 century, the palace became a popular venue of masques balls in the Mozart "spirit.

The palace has long been unused, and gradually fell into disrepair. In 2010 Carnevale Praha and Institute of Baroque Culture open the palace premises. Gradual "reviving" the palace in spirit of the original tradition is slowly returning to silent space the glamorous life of 18th century, when the beauty and elegance were an integral part of our lives.

Carnevale Baroque Orchestra was founded by the members of  Hipocondria ensemble

chamber group, specialized in authentic interpretation of old music.

The original ensemble is two violin, viola and basso, continuo, flute or hautboy.

In the effort to approach the original interpretation of works from 17th and 18th century the ensemble uses period instruments or copies and use the system of tuning for historically accurate sound reproduction. While performing vocal-instrumental compositions cooperate with singers, specialized in old music. The ensemble has behind them, a truly rich concert life.

Danseur Noble Ensemble

Hana Slačálková and Tomáš Kubín  have devoted their professional lives to baroque dance and baroque dance esthetics for more than 12 years. As dancers they have collaborated with many outstanding choreographers on the reconstructions of baroque operas, as well as on revivals of other magnificent piece of art from the 16th - 18th enturies.

Hartig Ensemble - Dances and Ballets of Three Centuries

The dance ensemble Hartig performs dances of various historical periods (from late Renaissance to early Romantic era) staged under the artistic leadership of Helena Kazárová, Ph.D. The repertory of the ensemble covers both the ballroom dances and the virtuoso theatre solos and duets from the 16th to the beginning of the 19th Centuries. As first in Czech Republic, Hartig started to study Baroque dances from the authentic sources - that is from the Beauchamp-Feuillet notation and soon reached the international professional level in this field.

Hartig Ensemble is often invited to dance at experimental performances at the Baroque Theatre of Český Krumlov Castle and at other historical sites in Bohemia and abroad. Hartig performs with foremost Baroque orchestras (Musica Florea, Capella regia, Ensemble Inégal, Collegium 1704, Hipocondria Ensemble, Hofmusici and others) conductors and in case of chamber programmes also soloists (Edita Keglerová, Julie Braná and others). In special types of cultural venues, also recorded music is used.

From the year 1997, when Hartig ensemble was founded, the dancers were engaged, (in addition to their own concert programmes, e.g. Rendez-vous with Madame Pompadour), in many prestigious theatre projects. Let us name for instance the opera Castor et Pollux of J.Ph. Rameau (Estates Theatre in Prague), monumental work of J.D. Zelenka Sub olea pacis (Wladislaw Hall of the Prague Castle) or the opera Giunone placata of J.J. Fux at the Baroque Castle Theatre in Český Krumlov and others. Hartig danced at to many festivals (e.g. International Music Festival Prague Spring, Dvořák Festival, Europamusicale, Europa-Mitte, Theatrum Kuks Festival and others.) In the year 2006 Hartig ensemble performed a special programme Images of Baroque Ballet at the Baroque Castle Theatre in Český Krumlov to honour the visit of Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia. From the year 2007 Hartig Ensemble cooperates with Musica Florea on special projects, like the Rococo ballet from Český Krumlov Castle archive La guirlande enchantée of Joseph Starzer. After Glucks La Danza we plan to stage Händels opera-ballet Terpsicore in September 2010 at the Castle Theater at Mnichovo Hradiště.
