This staging of Prokofiev’s ballet by the outstanding Czech choreographer Pavel Šmok and the Prague State Opera ballet chief Pavel Ďumbala, immediately became one of the most successful performances of the Prague State Opera. The main roles are performed by the outstanding soloists Miss Anna Ščekaleva (Cinderella), Mr Ondřej Novotný (the Prince) and Mr Milan Boček (The Step-Mother). A review printed in the Financial Times of London said after the first night that it was the best imaginable introduction to ballet for a child spectator.
